Please meet some of our current greyhounds looking for a loving forever home. We do try to keep this page current but don’t be disappointed if you miss out on one of these hounds as we always have new hounds dogs coming in to the program. The GAP team will always try to match you to the greyhound that best suits your family’s needs. For further information or email us on gap@qric.qld.gov.au

A schedule of our current adoption fees are available on our FAQ page. Please note that our office hours 8.30am – 4pm Monday to Friday and outside of these hours you can leave a message along with a return contact number and we will get back to you as soon possible on the next business day.

All Greyhounds adopted from GAP are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed, heartworm tested and health checked and have a scale and clean of their teeth. During the foster process they quickly and easily make the transition from being a racing dog to pet. Such is the stringent nature of the GAP assessment processes that the Queensland Government legislates that greyhounds successfully passing through GAP no longer have to be muzzled in public.

Please note that all hound information shown here is believed to be correct based on information supplied to GAP.

Children

While all greyhounds are tolerant of children, some enjoy their company more than others. This symbol indicates dogs that we feel are particularly suited to homes with children.

Dogs

Some greys are fine as an only dog, others need company. This symbol indicates that the dog would be happiest in a home with a canine friend to play with.

Cats

This indicates that the greyhound is happy to live with cats.

Livestock

Most of our dogs are not tested with livestock. This symbol indicates that the dog has been fostered with horses, cows etc and is comfortable around them.

Poultry

Most of our dogs are not tested with poultry. This symbol indicates that the dog has been fostered with poultry and is comfortable with them.

Shadow is a beautiful young girl with a sweet and expressive face and a personality to match! She is a real sweetheart and has a gentle and soft nature.

Shadow loves the company of other dogs, big and small and has even met some cats while she has been with GAP. She enjoys going out for daily walks and having a play in the yard with her favourite toys, before settling down for a nap. She does like to have company so would love to live with another dog.

Shadow will suit most home environments and would love to be included as part of the family. She enjoys cuddling up in the evenings before settling down for bed. She is a loveable girl and will be a great addition to the family!

Billy is a sweet and cuddly young man who is playful and fun but can be a little puppy like goofy. He would benefit from a home that is patient and who can show him how to settle after play time.

Billy is an inquisitive boy who is still learning about all the different sights and sounds in the world – he finds everything very exciting! He mixes well with other breeds of dogs and doesn’t want play time to end. Billy enjoys getting out and about for walks.

Billy is best suited to an active home where he can be a part of the family activities and learn all about the world. Although he mixes well with other dogs, he would be best suited to being an only dog until he matures. He is a very sweet boy with lots of love to give!

Wally is a fun and friendly fellow, who loves to meet new people and get plenty of pats and cuddles. He is great with a wide variety of people, including older children and enjoys being inside the home. He can also be independent and stay at home by himself.

Wally loves to play with all sorts of toys – soft ones, hard ones, big ones, small ones, and squeaky ones too! He loves for them to be thrown for him so he can go and retrieve them. It doesn’t take too long for him to need a rest after playing and he will happily go off to his bed and relax for a while.

Wally would be best suited to an active home where he would be involved in family activities. He will make a great new family member.

Mufasa is a handsome young lad who is a real gentle giant. He can get a little bit excited at times and forget how big he is, but quickly settles. He cannot get enough of toys with a game of fetch being his favourite. After having a play and run around, he enjoys nibbling on a bone or a frozen Kong toy – whatever is on offer he will enjoy.

Mufasa enjoys getting out and about for a daily walk, taking in the sites and meeting new people on his way – he likes to be involved in what’s going on. He is also a real snuggle bug, lapping up as much attention as he can and giving great cuddles!

Peewee is a beautiful little girl who has a soft and sweet nature. Initially Peewee can be a little unsure of new things so she needs to do things are her own pace and have a understanding and patient person helping her along the way. It doesn’t take long for Peewee to feel comfortable and come out of her shell.

Peewee likes to get out and explore and take in all the new sights and smells. She is great on lead and a pleasure to take out on walks. Peewee isn’t a very active girl, enjoying a quick play before looking at you waiting to be taken back inside.

Peewee is best suited to a home that has time to spend slowly building her confidence. Once she is settled into a new home, she will be a lovely companion!

Sam is outgoing and loves to get out and about and be included in all activities! He is a higher energy boy who loves to play fetch and have a play in the yard. He is a big fan of enrichment activities and also his pool, relaxing in it on a hot day to cool down.

Alvin loves to play with his toys, and especially loves the ones that squeak! He also loves to be pampered and will lay there relaxing while he gets a brush and a cuddle.

Pandora loves attention and she would have the spotlight on her all day if she could! She can be a little silly and puppy like at times and may jump up and pull on the lead initially. With some positive training, time and patience, she settles nicely.
