Please meet some of our current greyhounds looking for a loving forever home. We do try to keep this page current but don’t be disappointed if you miss out on one of these hounds as we always have new hounds dogs coming in to the program. The GAP team will always try to match you to the greyhound that best suits your family’s needs. For further information or email us on gap@qric.qld.gov.au

A schedule of our current adoption fees are available on our FAQ page. Please note that our office hours 8.30am – 4pm Monday to Friday and outside of these hours you can leave a message along with a return contact number and we will get back to you as soon possible on the next business day.

All Greyhounds adopted from GAP are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed, heartworm tested and health checked and have a scale and clean of their teeth. During the foster process they quickly and easily make the transition from being a racing dog to pet. Such is the stringent nature of the GAP assessment processes that the Queensland Government legislates that greyhounds successfully passing through GAP no longer have to be muzzled in public.

Please note that all hound information shown here is believed to be correct based on information supplied to GAP.

Children

While all greyhounds are tolerant of children, some enjoy their company more than others. This symbol indicates dogs that we feel are particularly suited to homes with children.

Dogs

Some greys are fine as an only dog, others need company. This symbol indicates that the dog would be happiest in a home with a canine friend to play with.

Cats

This indicates that the greyhound is happy to live with cats.

Livestock

Most of our dogs are not tested with livestock. This symbol indicates that the dog has been fostered with horses, cows etc and is comfortable around them.

Poultry

Most of our dogs are not tested with poultry. This symbol indicates that the dog has been fostered with poultry and is comfortable with them.

Meet Jack – South East QLD!

Jack is a confident and happy young boy with an outgoing fun-loving personality. He is a tall boy with long super model legs! He also has a beautiful soft coat and is happy for you to pat him all day long.

Jack loves to head out on daily walks and because he is still young, he can get a little over excited initially. He is learning how to walk nicely on a loose lead and is a great walking buddy. Jack is very affectionate and will lean into you to get kisses and cuddles. Jack knows how cute he is and works those big puppy dog eyes to get whatever he wants.

Jack would be suited to most home environments and would enjoy living with kids and other dogs. He is quite playful and would love for someone to play with him each day.

Misty is a sweet lady who has a confident and outgoing personality. She is very affectionate and gentle and loves cuddles and kisses.

Misty really enjoys getting out and about on new adventures and exploring her surrounding, taking in all the new smells. Misty is a pleasure to take out, walking beautifully on lead and making friends wherever she goes.

Misty would be great with kids, lapping up all of their attention and love. She would be happy as an only dog or having a canine friend to hang out with. Misty needs to go to a home where she was included in the family and she is a very people orientated girl. She will make a lovely addition to her family.

Zorro is a happy young boy who enjoys having a play and a game. He gets very excited and will wiggle his whole body. He enjoys getting out and about and going for walks, getting excited initially but does settle and walk nicely by your side.

Zorro is very affectionate and friendly and is more than happy to stop while out on walks to receive pats from people he meets along the way. He also enjoys being groomed and pampered.

Zorro is a real people dog, enjoying cuddles and attention and just being with his favourite humans. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home, lapping up all the attention. He is a loving and sweet boy who will make a great companion for his new family.

Handsome Ramsay is an active boy who thoroughly enjoys his toys and having a play! You will see him throwing his toys around the yard, amusing himself. He likes to head out for daily walks, pulling initially, but he does settle quickly and walk well.

Ramsay enjoys getting out and about on new adventures, exploring his surroundings and then coming home for a snooze. He is an affectionate boy, enjoying a cuddle and tummy rub.

Ramsay would be suited to an active family who will include him in their activities and outings, although he would be happy to laze around the house while you are at work. He is best suited to living with older kids and would prefer to be an only dog, having toys all to himself.

Cleo is active and likes to get out and about each day on walks and adventures to release some excess energy. She also likes her daily enrichment activities which keeps her mind busy. Because Cleo is very young and active, she needs plenty of mental enrichment activities, exercise and attention to feel content.

She has a very cute habit of taking her bowl to her bed so she can eat her food in comfort. Ziva wants to be involved in what is happening in the home and being showered with love an attention from her human friends.
